About me

The Road Map

I’m a girl from a small town called Maringouin, Louisiana; better known as the 13th.

Where I come from, food isn’t just food. It’s family, it’s culture, it’s how we love on people.

My love for cooking started with my grandmother, Ms. Mattie — the cook of the whole town.

If you were hungry, you went to her house.If you needed comfort, you went to her house.

And there I was, glued to her hip, soaking up every flavor, every story, every moment.

Those early days shaped everything I am.

As I got older, I followed that passion all the way to the Louisiana Culinary Institute, where I became a double graduate — earning both my Savory and Pastry degrees. One of the proudest moments of my life.

But life is gonna life — and the journey wasn’t always easy.

Still, the kitchen stayed my safe place, my joy, my purpose.

Every year, my friends and I did Secret Santa. One year, I sent my friend Ashley a box full of Louisiana goodness — including a jar of my homemade seasoning. She called me and said:

“Marty… this is the BEST seasoning I’ve ever had. You need to sell this.”

She challenged me — and I accepted.

Three months later, on March 17th, 2021, A Taste of the 13th was born.

What started as one seasoning has grown into a whole brand — my baby, my pride, my legacy. And we’ve been unstoppable ever since.

I’m forever thankful for every person who has shopped, shared, supported, and spread the word.

You’re not just customers — you’re family.

And this flavor? It’s straight from the heart of the 13th.
